This subject has added just the right mix to my semester. It wasn’t stressful but it was enough of a workload to keep me going both terms.
I had a rough understanding of HTML before starting this subject, but since taking this subject I am much more comfortable in reading and typing code. This helps when using pages like Blogger.
My understanding of pages like Blogger and Flickr has increased exponentially. On blogger for example I am much more confident in adding page elements and on Flickr I have a greater understanding of the social networking side that goes along with the page. I have also learnt a lot about joining pools/groups and adding tags and descriptions something I had never done before this subject.
I think the most challenging and by far the most rewarding part of the subject was that of using Iweb.
I had never touched Iweb or even a similar application before MPI104. During the class whene we went over what Iweb does, I also learnt that you can use word to create webpages. I was completely unaware of that. I don’t think I would ever use it to publish on a web, but it could be a very handy tool if you had to present some info as a webpage, simple and essentially effectove
I loved learning about RSS, now thanks to the feeds that I have found I can get all the random news that I love hearing about whithout spending 3 hours searching for it.
The only problem with word or HTML webpages is that they aren’t ever going to be very visually aesthetic. That’s the best thing about Iweb, even someone with not very much experience can create a page that looks amazing.
I also had never published a web page before this subject. So I have a list now of firsts thanks to this subject.
But I think the most important thing that I have learnt by taking this subject is to be brave and trust myself a lot more when it comes to the internet and the tools that are out there to use.
